The sonography course on ‘acute medicine’ in hepatology is intended for physicians with an interest in acute medicine, and in particular, acute hepatology. At least some experience in ultrasound is preferable. During the course, different cases of ‘acute hepatology’ will be demonstrated with a sonography-simulator. All cases represent real-life cases of patients who presented at the emergency department. Most important diagnoses in acute or emergency hepatology are, acute cholecystitis, cholangitis due to choledocholithiasis, severe acute hepatitis, and thrombosis of liver vessels like Budd Chiari syndrome. Pathology outside the liver will also be shown, e.g. splenic rupture.
Learning objectives:
- to become familiar with the most important ultrasound signs or diagnoses in patients presenting at the emergency department
- to be able to recognize inflammatory changes of the gallbladder, detect stones in the gallbladder and in the biliary tree, recognize dilated bile ducts, and to detect thrombosis of liver vasculature
- in addition, familiarize with some acute pathology outside the liver, such as splenic rupture.
Rote Balken entsprechen schallbare Aufnahmevolumen. Pfeile zeigen interkostale Fächer-Volumen (fans) an.
